Introducing Philadelphia Chiropractor Dr. Robert Rush

In 1978 Bob Rush was told by an orthopedist that if he didn’t have low back surgery, “there is nothing that can be done for you.”  Something inside told him  otherwise, and he walked with the support of a cane for over two years until his searching led him to Dr. Paul Mychaluk, a local chiropractor. “I had no idea what he would do, but I felt I trusted him and liked him, and I was desperate to try anything safe.”

Some visits Bob didn’t notice any changes. Sometimes he felt the beginnings of relief, and some days he found he was even more sore, but he persisted because he realized it was part of the healing process and he wanted to get better by giving this a fair chance.  And after four months of dedication on the parts of both doctor and patient, he realized the crippling low back pain and sciatica were gone (and so were his headaches, which he hadn’t even discussed with the doctor)!

Dr.

With regular to periodic care, he has been absolutely fine since 1980 when he resumed his normal activities, and some.  Several years later he decided to become a doctor of chiropractic, with the mission of helping others in the way he was helped.

Having previously received his B.A. from La Salle, he began taking the prerequisite science courses (chemistry and organic chemistry, biology, anatomy, physics) and then entered the Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic where courses included biochemistry, nutrition, a major emphasis on anatomy, physiology, pathology  and diagnoses, radiology (X-ray), chiropractic philosophy, diagnoses and adjusting techniques, extra-scholastic courses such as muscle injury and pain diagnosis and treatment. He graduated with his D.C. (Doctor of  Chiropractic) in 1993 and opened his practice.

“We love and respect skeptics and those with a lack of certainty or concerns,” smiles Dr. Rush. “I still remember the concerns and hopelessness I felt when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to communicate in a way each patient will understand. I believe that people appreciate that. I am also aware that most people don't know all of their health care options.  Without knowledge there is no choice, and without choice we are essentially powerless, aren’t we? We want you to know and understand your options for a better life, and empower you to make the choices that will lead you to relief and improved quality of life. The promise of Longevity cannot be made, but the pursuit of improved Health and Quality of Life is reasonable and essential.  Sometimes we need a teacher and a guide.

Dr. Bob Rush and family

Dr. Rush has been appointed Medical Director for the NE Chapter Fibromyalgia Support Groups. This is a growing area of specialty for him. Working with the many benefits of Chiropractic, Dr. Rush has developed a treatment protocol for those suffering with Tinnitus (“ringing in the ears”) and many people are finding a good deal of success in reducing or even getting rid of this problem. Several articles have been written about Dr. Rush's success in this area and he has seen people who have come to visit him from across the US.

Dr. Rush also specializes in the treatment of headaches and migraines and is extremely successful in getting rid of, or greatly reducing and controlling, most varieties of this debilitating condition. He is assisted by a knowledgeable Myotherapy (“massage” and “deep tissue work”) staff who help him, under his direction.

He has been appointed by former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson to be on the care panel for the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department where he serves along with three other chiropractors and six medical practitioners in the "Heart and Lung" division of I.O.D. ("Injured On Duty."). He also provides relief and wellness care for a great many of the city's Police and Fire Fighters and their families.

When legendary local chiropractor and mentor Dr. Robert Stippich retired several years ago, Dr. Stippich referred most of his patients to Dr. Rush, who is honored to try his best to continue to carry on Dr. Stippich’s tradition of excellence and caring.

Dr. Rush also treat performance-related injuries (the protocols are similar to Sports injuries, and Dr. Rush's extensive background and education in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is put to good use in these areas.) Again, patients often travel far and wide to seek his advise and care due to his excellent reputation and results.

Dr. Rush is a frequent public speaker at organizations, religious and social groups and at major companies. He also writes for several professional periodicals, as well as for a British “vintage rock” magazine.

Dr. Rush has practices in both Northeast Philadelphia, and in New Hope, Bucks County.

Dr. Rush Asks some important questions of interest to Philadelphia residents - Chiropractor Philadelphia Dr. Rush Asks...

Would you rather feel good or be healthy?
Ask most people in Philadelphia and they want to feel good. Careful! Would you take medicine that makes you feel good, rather than vomit to expel improperly prepared food? Every chiropractic patient knows that you can't measure your health by how you feel. True health is when your body works as it should.
How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
